City Clerk-Treasurer

The Clerk-Treasurer for the City of Tipton is the city’s financial officer and clerk of records. Specifically, the duties of the Clerk-Treasurer are:

  • Account for all of the city’s funds, assets, and policies
  • Serve as secretary to the City Council and Board of Works
  • Maintain the public meeting calendar, City Council and Board of Works agendas and minutes, city ordinances and resolutions, and legal contracts between the city and other agencies
  • Handle accounts payable
  • Prepare the payroll of city employees
  • Issue solicitor permits
  • Announce bid opportunities
  • Provide notary public services
  • Disburse checks for vendor claims and accounts payable
  • Maintain human resource records and applications for employment
  • Collect fees as set according to city ordinances
  • Provide for review of financial data, including revenues, expenditures, city budgets, as well as the annual financial report
  • Manage and maintain public records

In Indiana, City Clerk-Treasurers are elected by the city’s voters every four years.
