The Tipton Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is a quasi-judicial body that reviews requests for variances of development standards, variances of use, special exception petitions, and administrative appeals.
Meetings are typically held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Tipton City Hall, Council Chambers, located at 216 S. Main Street, Tipton, IN. The annual Calendar of Meetings and Filing Deadlines provides the most up-to-date information on scheduled meetings and application deadlines. If no petitions are submitted, the Board may choose to cancel a scheduled meeting.
All petitions reviewed by the Board of Zoning Appeals require a public hearing. Members of the public who wish to participate should review Article VII, Public Hearing of Petitions, in the BZA Rules of Procedures to understand when and how public participation is permitted. Article IV outlines the general rules of conduct during BZA meetings.
Please note that, under Indiana Code IC 36-7-4-920, no person may contact BZA members prior to a public hearing with the intent to influence a member’s decision on a pending case. Written information may be submitted to planning staff before the meeting and will be provided to BZA members in accordance with Article VII of the BZA Rules of Procedures.
